Kriyas
"Kriya" means "action".
It can also have two meanings when talking about Kriyas in a specific way: It can mean the full practice/sequence of a Kundalini class or it can mean an individual action within the practice itself. Either way it normally includes a breathing technique (Pranayama) and movement or postures.
Chants used during Kriya
Sat Nam
Meaning: "I am the truth".
During Kriyas in Kundalini Sat Nam is also used to strengthen the focus. Inhale imagine Sat and exhale imagine Nam.
Har
Meaning: "God" / "Creative Infinity"
Used as a powerful meditation tool, in which the word is repeated over and over again, normally with an incorporated movement.
Wahe Guru
Meaning: "Wondrous Enlightener" (coming back to the divine within)
Often repeated over and over in a form of meditation, often incorporating a movement.

Sat Kriya
Sat kriya is a profound and fundamental practice that brings balance into the lower three Chakras. By using this powerful Kriya to purify and detoxify the energy channels you bring balance and strength into the entire system, but mainly the sexual system.
This is a great Kriya to bring stability with sexual desires and impulses and it can also help remove any fears or sexual phobias, helping the sexual energy to sublimate into the higher Chakras for spiritual growth.
Start slow and build up over time. 2 to 3 minutes is a great starting point. Increase the time when it feels right for you.
Remember the maximum time to practise this Kriya is 31 minutes and you have to double the time for Savasana at the end of the practice. Do not skip the Savasana.
Fists of Anger
Get rid of internal anger
This Kriya when practised to its full capacity helps to forcefully remove internal anger that would normally take years to let go and eliminate.
Sit in easy pose cross-legged, lengthening the spine as the crown of the head reaches towards the sky. Hold the arms out at shoulder height, the elbows at a 90 degree bent, and clench the fists. Bring one arm up over the head and the other down to the stomach and then swap them in a rapid fast motion while rapidly inhaling and exhaling through the mouth. Move the arms with such vigour that the entire body reverberates. Continue for 7 minutes, then inhale deeply through the nose hold the breath for 10 to 15 seconds, then exhale deeply through the mouth. Repeat this 2 more times maximum, making it a total of 3 times.
Remember you can start practising this Kriya slowly and work your way up to the full recommended time.
Add a meditation for a minimum of 8 minutes with the hands on the heart centre afterwards.
Sit nice and tall, eyes closed, turning inside. Trust, feel and imagine non-existence, letting go of all that serves you no purpose. The anger released is now being replaced with the true nature of self, the true ease of life as the energy begins to settle and balance out through the system.
Rock and Roll
Jhulana Lurhakanasana helps boost the energy in the body and hence can be included in any yoga sequence.
The gentle massage of the spine helps redistributing prana (vital energy) through the body while stimulating and healing. This Kriya can help reduce any pranic blockages, purifying and detoxifying the system.
The Rocking and Rolling motion can also help strengthen the low, middle, upper back and the core.
If Rocking and Rolling is practised before bed in a very slow rolling motion it is really relaxing for the nervous system and can aid in sleep.
This Asana or Kriya is connected to Manipura Chakra which will give you an ester sense of self-confidence, self-esteem and charisma.
As Rocking and Rolling can put lots of pressure on the spine and entire back, be extra cautious while practising this Kriya, if you experience the following:
-
Injuries to the back, neck and hips
-
Pregnancy
-
Surgery of any internal organs
-
Slipped disc
-
Spondylitis
-
Pain while practicing the Asana
-
High blood pressure
As always with these types of practices sit in stillness for a while afterwards and feel into the body. Become aware of any changes in the system. It may take a while for you to notice any changes, but as your awareness of the body and systems within the body expands you will feel the movement of energy within the body and the clarity of the mind.
Converting Semen into Ojas
Ojas is the life force that we are born with, but it is limited and we can expend it in many ways. Once it is depleted we will transition from physical to non-physical. One of the main and strongest ways we deplete Ojas is through an orgasm.
This Kriya is a sublimation practice which removes the Ojas from our sexual energy (semen/sexual fluids) and brings it back into the body into the higher Chakras.
It can be used for both men and women, it just happens to be called converting Semen into Ojas.
This practice is a quick and powerful technique for transmutation of the sexual energy, and should not be practised for any longer than 11 minutes on each side.
This Kriya also relieves a build up of sexual pressure/tension, that then sublimates to the higher Chakras.
It is a great way for people who are trying to focus sexual energy in a different way.
Kriya for sexual confidence
This is a great Kriya to bring confidence back into your intimate, sensual and sexual desires, whether it has been weakened through a state of over-thinking, an obsession, fear or phobias.
It is working with the lower three Chakras to release fear, shame and guilt, and to bring confidence, courage and balance into your daily life and desires.
-
Start in table top position, hands directly under the shoulders and knees directly under the hips. To engage the shoulders press the mat away from the body and slightly draw the shoulder blades apart.
-
Starting with the left leg, inhale extend the leg and lift the chin, exhale draw the knee into the chest and tuck the chin into the chest.
-
Repeat this movement for 1 minute.
-
After 1 minute inhale, extend the leg lift the chin. Hold the breath and squeeze Mulabandha.
-
Hold for 10 to 15 seconds and release.
-
Repeat on the right side.
Sit in stillness and feel into the body. Be aware of any sensations and let the energy settle within the system.
If you feel the need to repeat the Kriya that’s totally fine, just remember to do both the left and right side for the same amount of time to balance out the system.
Start slow and build up to a maximum of 11 minutes on each side.
If you have had any surgeries or have any respiratory issues please consult a doctor before practising this Kriya.
